This one was a lot of fun. Assorted Crisis Events is an anthology series about a world that experiences time crisis events. Show up to work one day and no one recognizes you, because you’re from a different time period. People disappear, only to appear in the past or future. People from different time periods randomly appear, and somehow everyone has to adapt. It’s like being a Marvel or DC world with all the different crisis events, but instead of a hero you’re on the ground level dealing with all the madness.

The first issue is a little longer than the normal issue, but you won’t notice. It flies by and is so much fun to learn about the world and those dealing with it. Yes, it’s the apocalypse but people adapt. What was a crisis last week becomes another Monday this week. And as we adapt someone will find a way to profit off of the tragedy.

Yes, this issue is setting the stage for what is to come. Before we get more stories we have to set the table and rules, or lack of rules. So there isn’t a ton of character development, and that’s something I’ve seen mentioned as a negative for other readers. I had enough from the main character to give me something to hold onto and follow that I didn’t care about that. With such a strange and unique setup, we have to get some background on what we are in for in this world.

I really became attached to our main character in the first issue, the mix of grief and humor really struck a cord. I was a little sad to see this was an anthology series, but this world is full of so many great stories that I’m excited to see where writer Deniz Camp takes us.
