It’s time for another 10 Questions post! This week our latest victim is Jarrod from The Fantasy Thinker YouTube channel and this very blog.
Before we get to Jarrod’s questions, here is more information about him:
Jarrod is a veteran of the U.S. Airforce. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts/Lowell with a dual concentration degree in Liberal Arts for English and History and was inducted into the National Honor Society for Continuing Education Students. He has self published short stories and had stories published by Cornerstone Book Publishers for Airship 27 productions. Secret Agent X Volumes 3 and 4 are available on Amazon. He has also written and directed short films and one feature film for Mindbeside Studios and wrote comic book reviews for his local comic book store. After a long creative hiatus, he is back in the saddle creating content for the you tube channel, The Fantasy Thinker, as well as writing for this blog site on Page Chewing.com. He does all this stuff while holding down a job as the Quality Director for a metal finishing company because it is some serious fun.
What would you do if you found a penguin in the freezer?
First, I would blame one of the kids for taking in yet another pet. Second, I would google how best to prepare a gourmet penguin meal on a tight budget.
If you could time travel to any point in history, where would it be and what would you do?
My first inclination is to travel 10 years into the future so I can finally make the correct decisions today. Damn the temporal consequences. If it’s the past, I’d go back to a random point in prehistory so I could turn it into documented history. It would be fascinating to document the day in the life of a neanderthal. Of course, this is all assuming I can come back.
Desert or ocean?
Forest. The ocean is just a wet desert.
Coffee or tea?
Coffee. The addictive qualities of coffee are very real and it will not go away without severe intervention. I sometimes wish I was a tea drinker but I cannot mentally or physically go there without wishing I had a coffee instead.
If you became a supervillain, but one that could only mildly inconvenience people as opposed to causing any real damage, what would your supervillain name and power be?
I would be BOOK MASTER!!! I would have the ability to split my mind into two distinct working brains. One would be reading and completely absorbing what is read, while the other would resume the daily tasks of work, chores, driving, sleeping, etc. I would be able to telepathically project my thoughts to people instead of talking so that I could explain I am not ignoring them and I can genuinely do two things at once. My villainy would consist of the irritation of writing more reviews than anyone could ever possibly read.
The Earth has gotten knocked off its axis and against all odds it now rains Worcestershire Sauce… In as much or as little detail as you’d like, what are you making for dinner on the Night of the Falling Worcestershire? Yes, it’s a permanent change, that’s just how rain is now. And yes, water still exists… I don’t know how, it just does. Don’t think about it too much.
I place a container outside to collect as much free Worcestershire Sauce as possible. I then proceed to marinate the penguin I found in my freezer earlier for at least 48 hours in the collected Worcestershire. I then prepare a meal of said penguin (which I conveniently looked up how to cook earlier in this questionnaire) with roasted, seasoned potatoes and asparagus drizzled with olive oil.
There’s only five records you can listen for the rest of your life. And they are…
Just five!!?? Ugh!
1. Dream Theater; Awake
2. Dream Theater; A Dramatic Turn of Events.
3. Rainbow; Rainbow Rising.
4. Queen; Sheer Heart Attack.
5. Symphony X; Paradise Lost.
Then I would use the above time travel question to determine if I made the right decisions and probably regret not choosing Beethoven’s 9th symphony.
What’s your favourite country that you’ve visited? If you’ve never left your home country then is there somewhere you’d like to visit someday?
I’ve only visited Canada outside of the U.S.A. I would love to visit Japan and Europe, that counts as one country right? 🙂
What was the title of the book you wrote and what was it about?
Never written a full book, but a bunch of short stories that I self published ages ago called The Other Side of Imagination. Thankfully, this is no longer available :). I also wrote Secret Agent X short stories for an anthology series published by Airship 27 and Cornerstone Books. This was for Secret Agent X volume III and volume IV. Those you can still get on Amazon, somehow. Secret Agent X is a pulp hero character from the 1930s that acts like a spy to try and thwart Nazi ambitions around the world.
What question do you wish someone would ask you but they never have?
Can I give you a few million dollars? And, yes, yes you can.
