Blood Meridian is Coming & Friday Conversations Is Back! | Weekly Update
It’s been a busy couple of weeks around Page Chewing. I missed last week’s update thanks to a hectic schedule, so there’s plenty to catch up on in this week’s episode.
Speaking of, here’s the meme of the week:

On the reading side, I’m continuing The Bonehunters with the Page Burners group, and Malazan continues to alternate between moments I absolutely love and moments when I have no idea what’s happening. I’m also nearing the end of Carpentry in the Elven Forest, continuing Lone Wolf and Cub on Panel Chewing, and working through The Warrior Prophet as part of our full-spoiler Second Apocalypse reread.
Blood Meridian Begins September 7
The next big readalong is officially on the calendar.
Starting September 7, I’ll be reading Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian one chapter at a time, with a new podcast episode for every chapter.
Instead of simply recapping what happens, I want to slow down and explore the book as we go. I’ll have recurring questions for each chapter so anyone reading along can track how their thoughts and interpretations change throughout the novel.
If you’ve been putting off Blood Meridian, you’re invited to tackle it with me.
Friday Conversations Is Back
I’m also excited to announce that Friday Conversations has officially returned.
For the first episode back, I’m joined by Layla Goushey and Alex French for a casual conversation about dystopian science fiction, AI, separating art from the artist, and wherever else the discussion takes us.
I’m hoping to make Friday Conversations a regular part of Page Chewing again, with a new discussion roughly every couple of weeks.
And There’s Plenty More…
In this week’s update, I also talk about what’s happening with Beyond the Page, some fascinating recent author interviews, the new Page Chewing Patreon, why I’ve stopped updating the ebook deals page, and my recent rewatch of The Hunger Games movies.
And yes, I complain about the heat a little bit.
You’ll have to listen to the episode for the rest.
Question of the Week
Have you read Blood Meridian? If so, what did you think? If you haven’t, would you join me for one chapter a day beginning September 7?
