We’ve reached the end of The Warrior Prophet.

Chapters 22–25 bring the Holy War to a breaking point as starvation, doubt, faith, and desperation collide. At the center of everything is Kellhus, and one of the defining sequences of the entire Prince of Nothing trilogy.

But some of our most interesting conversations involve the people surrounding him.

Cnaiür continues to unravel, particularly following what happens with Serwë, while several characters seem strangely divided against themselves. That leads us back into questions about gods, manipulation, emotion, and whether anyone in Bakker’s world completely understands the forces driving their decisions. 22-25

We also discuss Achamian, Esmenet, the Circumfix, the increasingly fanatical Holy War, and whether sheer conviction can explain some of the extraordinary events of the finale. 22-25

Finally, we look back at The Warrior Prophet as a whole and discover that the book held up much better on this reread than some of us expected. The battles felt shorter, the desert journey less drawn out, and several character arcs landed differently with the context of the complete series. 22-25

And then Bakker sends us into the next book with one hell of an ending.
