Conversations Worth Turning the Page For

Sasquatch, Storytelling & What Makes Us Human with Maxim Langstaff

, ,

In Episode 20 of Beyond the Page, I talk with author Maxim Langstaff about his novel SASQ’ET, a story inspired by one of our most enduring mysteries.

Maxim began researching Sasquatch without believing in it. But after exploring historical accounts, folklore, Indigenous traditions, and scientific discussions surrounding the phenomenon, he found himself becoming less certain of what he thought he knew.

That uncertainty leads us into a much larger conversation about humanity’s connection to nature, why we need stories and mysteries, and the importance of challenging our own beliefs.

We also dive into AI and creativity, the value of struggle in the creative process, changes in the music industry, social media, and what might be lost when technology makes everything easier.

Ultimately, our conversation keeps returning to one question: What does it mean to be human?
