From Dragons to Fighter Jets: Building a Multiverse with Terrence Rotering
What begins as a simple story can sometimes grow into something far bigger than its creator ever imagined.
On this episode of Beyond the Page, I sit down with author and retired Air Force veteran Terrence Rotering to discuss his Chronicle Series, an ambitious collection of interconnected stories combining fantasy, science fiction, military action, and spiritual warfare.
Terrence originally began writing fantasy stories for his children. Years later, those stories evolved into a trilogy, then expanded into a much larger fictional universe encompassing seven interconnected worlds and thousands of years of history.
One of the most interesting aspects of our conversation is how Terrence combines seemingly different genres. His stories move from traditional fantasy settings filled with dragons and sword fights to modern military action, artificial intelligence, wormholes, and futuristic technology.
We also explore how his military experience shapes his storytelling. Having spent decades in the Air Force, Terrence draws on his knowledge of aviation, tactics, and strategy to create battles involving everything from dragons to fighter jets and spacecraft.
And, as always, we finish with a few unexpected questions about food, first jobs, and life experiences.
If you enjoy epic fantasy, science fiction, expansive worldbuilding, or hearing how authors develop their ideas, this is a conversation worth checking out.
