150 Episodes of Comics, Trombones & Picks of the Week | Panel Chewing #150
Somehow, Panel Chewing has reached episode 150.
We didn’t even remember until about ten minutes into the episode, which feels strangely appropriate.
But after 150 episodes, countless comics, Picks of the Week, group reads and probably far too much money spent at comic shops, we’re still here talking about what we’re reading every week.
This week starts with a discussion about something we don’t talk about very often: does the physical format of a comic actually matter?
Is bigger better? Is the oversized format used by publishers like DSTLRY worth the additional cost? Does better paper justify a higher cover price? And how annoying is it when none of your comics fit into the same bags, boards or boxes?
We don’t necessarily agree on everything.
From there, we get into another stack of new comics, including Absolute Batman, Conan, Killer Influences, Regicide, Solomon Kane, Black Star, The Eye Collector and more.
Our Picks of the Week couldn’t be much more different.
Jarrod chooses A Mischief of Magpies #2, while I go with Babs: The Long Road South #5.
Then we return to Lone Wolf and Cub for Volume 18, where our discussion turns toward Ogami’s morality and the role Daigoro plays in keeping him connected to humanity.
After 18 volumes, this series is somehow still giving us new things to talk about.
Most importantly, though, thank you to everyone who has listened, watched, commented, read along or joined us at any point during these 150 episodes.
We hope you find your Pick of the Week.
